Sailor's Retreat
The project involved the total rehabilitation of a large, historically significant, 1920’s bungalow and pool house. At the same time, a small addition to the kitchen, the reconfiguration of the back hall and a new single-car garage were completed.
The rehabilitation included the lifting of the entire house for the installation of a new stone veneer foundation, partial basement and crawl spaces while elevating the first floor for the proper relationship with grade. All systems of the house were replaced and virtually every surface was replaced or restored, including the stripping and re-staining of the Bernard Maybeck-inspired family room.
Period-correct details were incorporated into the new exterior to bring authenticity to the home and to repair previous “remuddlings.”
