'A' Geometric Study
The original ‘A-frame’ house, built of salvaged bench seats from a previous Navy Stadium renovation, presented a perfectly equilateral elevation. It was also found to be perfectly square in footprint. Our solution for the desired addition of guest quarters, a laundry room and storage included the last pure shape available – a circle – to define the roof. Timbers of treated pine, real stucco and galvanized metal form the visible materials while large glass doors and flush stone paving allow an uninterrupted inside/outside condition. This project won competition awards from both BUILDER and CUSTOM RENOVATION magazine.
